Cooking with Kerry is a set of courses designed to introduce you to, and improve your skills in, the art of baking cakes – and other culinary skills.

Basic Cakes Class

Learning

Basic Cakes is a fun and informative 3 hour class, where you will learn a range of foolproof recipes and countless practical tips giving you everything you need to brew, blend, and bake delicious cakes!

This course covers 3 mixing methods used when baking cakes (Measure & Mix method, Measure & Beat method, and the Creaming method.)

The course also includes six basic recipes with instruction on how to adapt it for different cake tin shapes, from standard round and square tins through to cupcakes and Bundt tins.

You May Achieve

You will blend and bake a selection of delicious cakes that will become your go-to bakes – be it for a special afternoon tea, a casual weekend picnic or the school cake stall.

You Will Need To Bring Along

A large container to take home a selection of baked cakes.
Please wear closed toe shoes and bring your own apron and lunch.

Fruit Mince Christmas Baking

Learning

Fruit Mince is a fun and casual 2.5-hour hands-on baking session where you will be guided through how to make your own fruit mince to brew, blend and bake a batch of Fruit Mince Pies, Christmas pudding or Christmas cake – all cleverly made using the same basic fruit mince.

You May Achieve

You will make a basic fruit mince and bake a batch of pies. While they are cooking you will blend and prepare a Christmas pudding or Christmas cake using your fruit mince for you to take home and bake, ready for Christmas.

You Will Need To Bring Along

Please bring an apron, sealed container for your mince pies.
A pudding bowl or cake tin for your Christmas cake or pudding mixture – to be cooked at home.

Celebration Cakes

Learning

You will brew, blend and bake a number of different celebration cakes including sponges, butter cakes and rich chocolate layer cakes – this includes gluten-free options.

You May Achieve

You will leave with not only new skills and confidence, but all the recipes, practical tips and clever decorating ideas you need to bake the perfect cake – no matter what the occasion.

How to bake a range of impressive cakes including sponges, layered butter cakes and special cupcakes.

How to prepare your cake tins for a great cake base.

A range of icings to cover your cakes including fail-safe buttercream, Swiss meringue buttercream, classic glacé and chocolate ganache.

Contemporary decoration techniques including naked cakes and flower piping.

Final touches and styling to complete your creation.

Take-home box with samples of all the goodies we will bake in class.

Please bring your lunch; homemade morning and afternoon tea, with endless cups of iced tea, hot tea or coffee are supplied.

Brew, Blend and Bake – with your own Chai Tea infusion

Learning

Learn how to brew traditional Masala Chai at home; make your own chai concentrate.

Using your chai concentrate brew, blend and bake a chai infused Sticky Date Pudding with salted caramel sauce.

You May Achieve

The skills to blend your own Chai Tea infusion to take home, using this brew to blend and bake a chai infused Sticky Date Pudding with salted caramel sauce.
