This is an introduction to playing five-string banjo for complete beginners. Using the ‘Scruggs’ or three-finger picking style which is the basis of bluegrass banjo. This style can also be easily adapted to other genres of music and is a great starting point for exploring the capabilities of this versatile instrument.
You May Achieve
Learning in a supportive, small-group situation (2–5 students) you will be able to develop basic skills in banjo playing.
Twangy, percussive, spine-tingling – the banjo has a unique sound. In its various forms, it is famous for blazing-fast bluegrass rolls and licks, moody country blues riffs, quirky trad jazz and driving Celtic rhythms.
