Genealogy

Genealogy is the study of families, family history, and the tracing of their lineage. As a group we explore a range of resources in exploring family histories. . The pursuit of family history and origins tends to be shaped by several motives, including the desire to carve out a place for one’s family in the larger historical picture, a sense of responsibility to preserve the past for future generations, and self-satisfaction in accurate storytelling.
We use a range of genealogy databases including

  • Family Search
  • Find My Past
  • MyHeritage
  • Newspaper Archives
  • Births, Deaths and Marriages Register
  • Billion Graves
  • Ancestory.com

Members assist one another in searching, learning and teaching each other how to better use the various databases in a relaxed and friendly environment. Come along and join us in the search for family histories.
