Pole Walking

Pole Walking is an advanced type of walking which involves a low impact workout that activates the core and postural muscles, increases fitness, and utilizes 90 % of both upper and lower body muscles. It is a social, versatile and affordable activity.
It’s great for those who want to incorporate

  • more physical activity into their lives
  • improve their posture
  • strength and balance
  • recover from surgery
  • or better manage stress

Walkers have included people from ages 30+ to 90+, and tuition is provided. Walking along 10 scenic rail trail or beachfront locations, some being of 2 kilometres distance, others 5 kilometres, and not crossing any roads.
Once you sign up, you’ll be provided with the meeting points; you don’t need to commit to being involved every week. You can just roll up, sign in for the morning’s walk, and sign out again when you’re done.

Sign-up location: SpringDale Neighbourhood Centre for sign up and then meeting points will be provided for various walks. The location list is available from the SpringDale office.
Donation: $1 per walk

Note: We’ll lend you the poles for five walks, after that you can purchase them for $25 second hand or $65 brand new.

To attend any SpringDale Group you must be a member of SpringDale Neigbourhood Centre.
Annual Membership is $12.00. Life time membership is $100.00.
Each group charges a small donation fee payable to SpringDale Neighbourhood Centre to run the group activities.
